The Bulgarian Space Cluster (BCP) is the central platform dedicated to accelerating Bulgaria's space industry by building bridges between research, startups, and industry. BCP's mission is to establish a robust operational structure and connect stakeholders across all sectors to mobilize expertise, create technical and business frameworks, and open access to international space opportunities.
In May 2026 Digital Spaces Living Lab (DSLL), one of Europe's premier Living Labs, became a member of the Bulgarian Space Cluster, also via the LLcloud platform.
In the last 15 years DSLL has conducted over 45 large-scale product and technology validation trials for clients in the fields of smart cities, location-based services (LBS), Earth Observation, smart agriculture, mobile apps, wearables, well-being and sports, museums and art galleries, games, digital media, etc
For 10 years DSLL was one of the special partners of the European Satellite Navigation Competition and the Galileo Incubation programme. DSLL has supported and incubated the winners and finalists of the annual Galileo Living Lab Prize and other winners. DSLL's founding director Dr Stavri Nikolov has helped with the incubation of over 20 startups from the space industry, as a Copernicus, Galileo, and CASSINI mentor.
DSLL is the founder of LLcloud (https://www.llcloud.eu/) - the multi-sensor cloud. LLcloud® is one of the few platforms in the world that allows multi-scale multi-sensor Earth Observation, enabling seamless integration and joint analysis of Earth Observation, IoT, and wearable sensor data. In November 2023 LLcloud was selected as one of the 20 most innovative spacetech companies in Europe in Batch 2 of the prestigious CASSINI Business Accelerator, completing the program in April 2024.
As a Living Lab based in Sofia, Bulgaria, it was a natural step for DSLL to join the Bulgarian Space Cluster and contribute with the LLcloud multi-sensor platform, powering various downstream services and applications. And to continue with its mission to improve novel products and solutions powered by space and other data, that will change the way we live, and especially how we adapt to climate change, by testing them in real-life settings and tasks in Living Lab trials.
